FAQ
What is a Speaker Slam?
10 speakers vying for a cash prize and the coveted title of Speaker Slam champion in an evening of prepared and impromptu speaking that will prove who is the ultimate speaking superstar.
Is there an age requirement to enter the event?
As a private event venue, the host does not have age restrictions but our strong preference is that young children be excluded as they can be a disrupted to our speakers.
The nature of our event, a speaking competition means we cannot have distractions for our speakers. In previous events we have attended, we have noticed kids running around and crying, and that is something we don't feel comfortable bringing in. Plus, we are recording every speakers speech, It would not be fair to them to have their performance affected. We want our speakers and audience to feel like they can relax, speak their mind and have fun without having to be "PG".
Our events tends to run from 6pm to 10pm in a licensed venue that sells alcohol. Kids are not the right fit for the event. We have made accommodations in the past for our judges and speakers due to last minute emergencies for kids 6 and up but we highly discourage it. Moving forward we want our guests, speakers and judges to make prior arrangements around the situation. Please reach out to us if you want to discuss further.
